Fire Chief For a Day
It was a super exciting day for the three "Fire Chiefs For a Day" winners at the Keswick fire hall. Kids from around Georgina submitted their fire escape plans in case of an emergency in their homes and one winner was chosen from each of the fire halls. Chief of 1-4 (Keswick) was Ryan Glivar, Chief of 1-6 (Sutton) was Kyle Drinkwater and Chief of 1-8 (Pefferlaw) was William Belden. These very lucky winners were picked up from their schools in a fire truck, attended a council meeting where they met the Chief and Mayor then headed to the Keswick fire hall to put out fires with fire extinguishers, learn how the aerial truck works and tried their hand at manoeuvring through a maze while wearing fogged-out goggles, simulating what it's like for firefighters when in a fire. Pizza lunch was served, a bit more fire training then they were returned to their schools by fire truck to top off their day. Great job Chiefs!
